        In Memory of Ed McKee

                                         1957 to September 27, 2008

The Steno Doctor (Ed) grew to be a very dear friend of mine in 1993.  He touched my soul with his huge spirit of giving to reporters, his employees, and his community.  He was a man of very fine character, and he overcame many obstacles by holding his head high when he was treated unfairly.  And gosh, what a brilliant mind!   He was always there to help anyone who needed him.  His passion, feistiness, and commitment for all he truly believed led him to great accomplishments (and interesting debate).  Ed shared his heart and his truths with me over numerous lunches and dinners.  Oh, did we have stories where we laughed until we cried!   I cherish the times I spent with him and David.  To learn of his passing is very difficult; he leaves a huge emptiness and deep sadness inside me.  I miss him very much.  Drat, it hurts!  Yes, there is some peace in knowing that he passed away in his sleep with no suffering, just one big heart attack.

I'm very relieved and glad to hear that the Steno Doctor business is thriving and is moving forward.  Since Ed was involved in other projects, he delegated more and more, and the Steno Doctor will continue to provide their excellent service.  I always recommend the Steno Doctor not because of our friendship, but because I KNOW the kind of caring, service, and talent they give to the reporting world.  I would "go to the wall" for them.

Anita has been a California CSR and she worked as an official court reporter in the Los Angeles Municipal and Superior Courts from 1974 to 1992.  During this time, the love of teaching inspired Anita to teach evening court reporting classes for about 12 years. 

In 1991, Anita was instrumental in introducing the California courts to the first complete CIC (Computer Integrated Courtroom) environment, including video synchronization, wherein she reported back-to-back daily trials for over a year with her partner, Pat Cuneo, networked to 11 computers.  At this time Anita researched, developed, and perfected her realtime skills.  She gave numerous seminars and presentations on this exciting CIC technology to reporters, judges, court administrators, and attorneys and thereafter became an active member of the National Speakers Association. 

This background led to the creation of her successful, hands-on, world-renowned workshops and seminars since 1993, fulfilling her personal commitment and life vision to making a positive, meaningful difference in people's lives. She has expanded her training to include a transition to broadcast captioning, CART and attorney seminars on effective record-making.  In May of 2007 she earned her CSP.
